What can I expect to do in this role?

In this position, you will:
  • receive all invoices for goods and services, ensuring they match the orders and receiving slips;
  • verify and process invoices for payment;
  • follow up and resolve any discrepancies with suppliers, storekeepers and main office;
  • maintain a bring forward filing system;
  • verify statements for overdue accounts;
  • process travel expense claims and petty cash vouchers;
  • verify journal entries to ensure goods are received;
  • perform daily reconciliation duties for inmate trust accounts;
  • perform Inmate Trust Clerk and Receptionist duties in their absence;
  • perform other related administrative functions.


How do I qualify?

Financial Knowledge and Skills:

  • You have knowledge of book keeping and accounting procedures in order to provide accounts payable functions (e.g. processing and reconciliation of invoices).
  • You demonstrate a basic understanding of clerical office procedures.
  • You have analytical skills and are detail oriented to identify discrepancies and to take corrective actions.


Other Essential Skills:

  • You have good communication skills to interact with staff and stakeholders at all levels.
  • You have organizational skills to maintain a current and accurate filing system and to coordinate your own work.
  • You have proficiency operating computers and calculators with knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
