Summary of role

As we accelerate the transformation of the Group and its Supply Chain, we are looking for a transport and logistics procurement professional with a strong focus on delivering results and managing complex projects to join a fast-growing, leading pharmaceutical company.

As part of the Global Procurement Industry team, we work together across borders to make a positive impact for the group, collaborating with stakeholders across the business and our supplier partners.

As a Transport and Logistics Buyer, you will contribute to the implementation and execution of strategies defined by category (sea, road, air) and by supplier within our international distribution network.
You will ensure that contracts, and in particular tariffs, are properly applied by service providers and that key contractual clauses are fully understood and respected.
You will benchmark existing tariffs and make proposals for optimized volume allocation within the supplier panel.
You will work in collaboration with Supply Chain, Quality and Industry players. You will liaise with the Group's subsidiaries to provide information on changes in their transport costs and will support when necessary the deployment of the new freight forwarders.
You will be responsible for the transport dashboard and for managing cost indicators.

Based in Poland, you will focus on the strategic projects defined jointly with the Supply Chain department, the production, R&D and distribution sites, and all the commercial regions in implementing the strategy.

With a global spend of over €100 million and working with other members of the team, the strategies defined will contribute to increasing our sales, reducing our costs and carbon footprint and the Group's performance in its different markets and businesses, and ensure a strong end-to-end supply chain that is agile, flexible and capable of meeting future business requirements and patient expectations.

Scope

Operational management of air, sea and road transport categories, and monitoring from time to time some warehousing contracts in close collaboration with the Purchasing, Industry and Supply Chain, Quality and Finance Departments.

Your responsibilities

  • Defining and implementing high-performance strategies for the categories in charge, ensuring that the savings targets and action plan set jointly with the Supply Chain Team are met.
  • Meeting the Group's objectives by ensuring the overall management and performance of the purchasing process (analysis and understanding of internal customer needs, identification of potential suppliers, analysis of supplier risks, management of RFQs, commercial and contractual negotiations, monitoring of compliance with commitments in our tools, CSR objectives, etc.) and strategy.
  • Identifying purchasing levers to achieve full cost optimization objectives.
  • Collecting and analyzing data, using BI tools, TMS and specific pricing systems for transport (air, sea, road).
  • Develop, implement and optimize transport policies and procedures with the operational teams when deploying new service providers.
  • Prepare monthly reports and ensure that full costs are properly communicated to internal contacts at head office and in the subsidiaries.
  • Developing Supplier Relationship Management with the panel of suppliers for which you are responsible (consolidating feedback, monitoring and improving their performance, developing relationships and sharing vision with strategic suppliers, preparing Quarterly Business Reviews with our strategic suppliers).
  • Monitoring the international market, maintaining a network of external benchmarks and being a source of proposals and innovations for internal customers, taking part in events specific to pharmaceutical logistics.
  • Negotiate and update contracts with the main suppliers in the category, based on your negotiations.

  • Implementation and deployment of effective global strategies for purchasing categories in the area of operations (warehousing and transport/distribution)
  • Active contribution to the development of the purchasing program with the business units and the definition of common objectives.
  • Drawing up the transport dashboard / controlling budgets / monitoring expenditure
  • Establishing/contracting partnership relations with suppliers and drawing up continuous improvement plans
  • Creating significant, measurable and recognized economic and qualitative value
  • Developing skills within the teams responsible for managing transport and distribution, and taking into account purchasing objectives and constraints.
  • Monitoring and reducing the carbon footprint of transport and logistics activities
  • Collaboration with buyers in subsidiaries and regions around the world.

Our requirements

  • Master's degree in purchasing and/or international transport/logistics operations management
  • Very good practice of English /French is a plus
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical/cosmetics/food sector would be a plus in terms of the regulatory dimension of the business
  • Committed, positive, friendly, energetic and collaborative team player.
  • Expertise or strong knowledge of the different modes of transport and their specific features, analysing data and processes in order to develop solid logistical solutions.
  • Comfortable negotiating complex tariffs and understanding master service and application contracts for the different modes of transport.
  • Very good knowledge of analytical and BI tools, need to have strong experience in data analysis and cost modelling.
  • Good experience of using tools such as TMS, optimization models.
  • Understanding of transport cost models and drivers, ideally in an international environment.
  • Curious with an appetite for data analysis and a desire to understand, challenge and ask questions, even in difficult situations.
  • You have already managed complex and fragmented categories on a global and international scale, and you know how to get them under control.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills and good knowledge of relevant international markets
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic leadership, particularly in the implementation of strategies
  • Demonstrates superior interpersonal and communication skills at several levels of the organization, seeking compromises acceptable to yourself and the group.
  • Motivated, autonomous and detail-oriented, you understand that the solutions you implement have a direct impact on our patients.
  • You will be able to manage several projects effectively at the same time and define your own priorities in line with the Group's challenges and vision.
  • Ability to travel, occasionally in France or on suppliers’ sites in Europe.
