Overall Purpose of the Role

This role is responsible for the successful planning and selling of both weddings and social functions across Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo. A busy year-round venue hosting a wide range of function types, this role will work with internal and external clients to deliver exceptional experiences and help us achieve our targets. This is a fast paced and rewarding role in a small close-knit team and the successful candidate will have a passion for the hospitality and events industry. Adherence to Our Safety Culture framework is expected.

Role Duties and Requirements

  • Manage all wedding & social function leads and conversion
  • Conduct site inspections, client meetings and liaison, create detailed event orders, invoicing and floorplans & written correspondence to the highest standard
  • Establish a strong and attentive relationship with clients to ensure the event is executed as planned
  • Work co-operatively with operations and kitchen teams to coordinate every aspect of our events to ensure seamless delivery
  • Maintain relationships with external suppliers including equipment, theming, photographers and audio-visual companies
  • Plan other events as required
  • Conduct follow-up correspondence with clients and respond to feedback
  • Provide a warm, friendly and welcoming service to customers and clients

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in function venue or similar environment
  • Sales experience within the catering or hospitality industry preferred but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • A warm, friendly, professional manner towards all clients and must be a team player
  • Experience in front of house service and room set ups
  • Proficiency in Priava, or other similar event management software and strong IT skills
