Principal Food R&D Lead [South Africa]


 Responsibilities:
Take responsibility and leadership to manage portfolio of projects or customers.
Escalate problems in timely fashion and come up with solutions proposals.
Work collaboratively with marketing, sales, culinary and customers to define the gold standard to enable delivery of authentic, marketable, profitable products.

Engage and involve other members within the R&D community.
Create, formulate, and provide process parameters for new products aligned with customer, legislative, and food safety requirements within the scope of strategic areas and in conjunction with the Sales & Marketing departments.
Maintain the basic business through formula optimization (price, quality), and/or range extensions, evaluation of new / alternative raw materials in product applications, and reducing company complexity.
Participate and engage fully in production trials of new products both internally and at customer locations; provides technical support in resolving on-going issues.
Effective operation of computer systems including: timely entry of formula data into Apps to ensure effective commercialisation of new products; utilisation of the CRM system; sample management systems.
Develop close working relationships with selected / assigned customers through regular direct contact thereby ensuring that the business understands the customers requirements (ingredient, product, and legislative restrictions), their operational processes and their technical requirements.

Requirements:
BSc Food Consumer Science/Dip Food Technology
NPD Management
Proven track record of savoury development
A degree of travel and flexibility is required.
